Seaspa: A sand & honey body scrub ritual for glowing skin

We have created a simple seaspa ritual for you to use while on the beach here in Barbados, to exfoliate and soften your skin, before washing off in the sea to reveal fresh, glowing skin.

A honey and sand body scrub is a lovely exfoliating treatment that can be done right on the beach. Here are our step-by-step instructions on how to prepare and apply the Seaspa body scrub:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup honey

  • 1 cup fine wet sand - enough to make a gritty paste. (brown sugar or salt can be used)

Instructions:

  1. Mix the honey and sand together in your hands or a small bowl until you get a thick, gritty paste. If it's too dry, add some water to moisten it.

  2. Find a private spot on the beach and while wearing swimwear, apply the scrub to your body. It's best to do this scrub from the neck down.

  3. Scoop up handfuls of the honey-sand mixture and gently rub it over your skin using circular motions. Focus on dry areas like elbows, knees and feet.

  4. Let the scrub sit for 5-10 minutes so the honey can moisturise your skin.

  5. Wade into the water and rinse off completely, allowing the sand to wash away.

The sand provides gentle exfoliation to remove dead skin cells, while the honey is a natural humectant that hydrates and softens skin. Then take a sea bath to wash off the honey and sand, your skin will feel amazingly soft, it really does feel great, the salt and sea elements leave the skin buffed, restored and glowing. Just be sure to rinse well so no sand or honey is left behind. It's a luxurious spa-bados beach treatment!
