Kate’s Guide to Barbados

Here are Kate’s tips on what to do and see off the beaten track in Barbados…

Take a Sea Bath

As a family, we love long walks and taking in nature so a must-do in Barbados is a walk and sea bath along the eastern coastline exploring the hidden rock pools. Bathsheba is a favourite place of ours.

Picnic at Bottom Bay

Enjoy a delicious picnic at one of our favourite beaches, Bottom Bay on the southeast of the Island, in the parish of Saint Philip. We buy local produce sourced from the markets including fresh lobster and cheese.

Catch a sunrise at Chalky Mountain

One of our favourite family hikes is up the spectacular Chalky Mountain on the eastern side of Barbados, in Saint Andrew. It is uphill all the way and not for the fainthearted, but worth it - especially at sunrise.

Feed your senses with a tropical gully walk

Enjoy an epic walk through the tropical plants of Barbados where native trees and tropical plants will take you back in time. These walks emphasise the importance of preserving Barbados' natural habitats, and the experience of a tropical gully walk offers a unique glimpse into the island's natural beauty and ecological diversity.

Lunch at The Caboose

A beach shack on Sand Street in Speightstown, Saint Peter, renowned for its cutter fish sandwich. Delicious!

Surf and swim with the turtles at Freights Bay

There really is nothing better than ending your day with a surf and swim in the turquoise waters at Freights Bay with the infamous turtle families.
